On funding of the scientific space projects of Russia

In 1999, Russian space science received less then $10 million in the state budget. Even with these scarce funds, progress is being made on Koronas-F and Spektr-RG missions. The break-up of the Russian space science budget for 1999 and the list of project studies is given based on interview with Secretary of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Space Council Aleksandr Alferov.



VPK holds session in Samara

Three days before his dismissal, Russian premier Sergey Stepashin visited aerospace companies in Samara and held session of the Governmental Commission on the Military-Industrial Complex (VPK). With Jugoslavia in mind, Stepashin defined three priority programs, including one space defense program costing 1 billion roubles (40 million dollars).
