USA September 3 1976 The US Viking-2 interplanetary probe made soft landing on Mars. It was a second US probe reached the Mars's surface. The station worked till March, 1980.

Germany September 8 1944 Conducted the first successful military launch of "A-4"/SS-1/Scunner (Fau-2) missile to London. 485-th battery located near Gaaga launched two missiles. The first missile hited in city's district Cheezvick and killed 3 people and wounded 17 people. The second missile wasn't any action.
USA September 8 1967 Conducted the launch of "Surveyor-5" satellite for improvement of landing to the Moon. In September, 11 the device made soft landing to the Moon's surface.
USA September 8 2000 Conducted the 22-th of American the Space Shuttle "Atlantis" - mission STS-106. The program of flight included delivery of 2180 kg of different cargo on ISS. Two Russian cosmonauts were in a crew.
