	USA	January 21	1950	Born Joseph Richard 'Joe' Tanner – American astronaut. Made two Space mission in 1994 and 1997.
	USSR	January 21	1955	Conducted first test flight of BM "R-5A" / SS-3 / Shyster.
	USA	January 21	1959	An accident on the launch pad during preparation of "Thor-Agena A" booster launch.
	USA	January 21	1960	Conducted the test launch of "Mercury" spacecraft for testing emergency escape system. On board the spacecraft was a monkey Miss Sam.

	Ukraine	January 28	1951	Born Kadenyuk Leonid Konstantinovich – First cosmonaut of Ukraine. Made one Space mission in 1997 ( on the Space Shittle,USA).
	USA	January 28	1959	Nike-Cajun successfully launched 12-foot-diameter test inflatable sphere to a height of 75 miles over NASA Wallops Island, the sphere inflating satisfactorily.
	USA	January 28	1986	10^th launch of Space Shuttle "Challenger", mission STS-51L, ended with disaster. Seven astronauts have perished in the blast of the booster.
	Russia	January 28	1994	Launched cargo vehicle "Progress M-21" to supply "Mir" space station.
	ESA	January 28	1994	Signed an Agreement between ESA and Poland on co-operatin in Space.

	USSR	January 29	1958	Approved a decision of Presidium of Suprime Soviet of Kazah Soviet Republic to rename "Zarya" city to Leninskiy City ( Baikonur.)
	USA	January 29	1961	NASA announced establishment of Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York City, which would be an extension of the Theoretical Division of Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. It will be headed by Dr. Robert Jastrow.
