"Rockot" Space booster.

"Rockot" Space booster was designed at Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center on the base of ICBM SS-19 Mod.2 (Russian industry designation 15A35 UR-100NU, RS-18).

First test launch of ICBM was conducted October 26th, 1977. November 5th, 1979 ICBM was approved as a standard Army missile.

During re-design of ICBM into Space booster there was made changes of control system and added new upper stage - "Briz". Main facility for the booster production is Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center, Moscow.

Main purpose of the booster - to launch payload to a low Earth Orbits and Polar orbit.

First launch of the "Rockot" space booster was conducted November 20th, 1990. Until May 16th, 2000 there were 4 launches and no accidents.
