"Energiya" Space booster.

(Industry designation 11K25, Western designation SL-17 without Buran and SL-18 with Buran).

Design of "Energiya" Space booster was initiated by the Decision of Communist Party Politburo of February 17th, 1976. Design was conducted at Science Production Union "Energiya", Moscow. Main production facility of the booster was "Progress" Plant in Samara City.

Main reason for such booster was to launch "Buran" spacecraft as well as heavy satellites over 20 tons mass. First test launch of the booster was conducted May 15th, 1987 and second November 15th, 1988. None of them had accidents.
