"Cosmos-3" Space Booster.

(Industry designation 65C3/11K65, Western designation SL-8).

The booster was designed on the basis of Middle-range missile R-14 (industry designation 8K65). First project of the launch vehicle initially was conducted at the Design Bureau #586. Later the project was supervised and developed by Special Design Bureau #1, brunch office #2 (later Special Design Bureau #10) under Designer General Reshetnev. New booster got an index 65?3 (?3 - is the index of new second stage). The booster was manufacturing at the factory #1001 close to SDB #10.

First test launch of the booster was conducted august 18th, 1964. All together until 1968 year there were 14 launches, including 3 accidents.
